American Fork Canyon Picnic

This past Saturday we went with Austins mom and dad and brother and wife up to American Fork Canyon for a picnic. It was a lot cooler in the canyon and we started off our trip by standing in the stream. Some of us decided they wanted to go swimming as well :) We had BLT's, fresh corn, chips, cherries and watermelon. We gave Kylie some watermelon for the first time and she LOVED it! She definitely didn't get her love for it from me! We all had a good time together and it was fun to do something outdoors.

Kylie decided she didn't want to smile for the camera

Jordan and Ashley enjoying the water a little too much :)

Love that watermelon!

Veterans Pool

So my adorable hubby took the rest of last Friday off to take his two girls swimming :) It was sooo incredibly fun. I haven't been there since they put in the new kiddie part. There's a pic of it down below. I tell ya, for $3 a person and Kylie being free, it was a great way to beat the heat on Friday. Kylie loved being in the water and it was a lot of fun to take her there.

Spanish Moss Cave

Austin has become quite the caver, and this past Saturday I was able to experience one of the coolest caves I have ever seen. It's called Spanish Moss and it is located in Rock Canyon. The walk up there was fine, until we had to get off the main trail and hike UP the mountain. Let me tell you, that was not fun :) After about 15 minutes we got to the entrance of the cave. Jordan and Ashley went with us and we all went down one after the other. My favorite part was when I had to repel about 60 feet into the main part of the cave. It was soo cool! There were a lot of awesome stalactites and stalagmites. We probably spent a few hours down there. Austin took like 200 pictures :) That boy loves his camera. Anyway, here are a few pics from our escapade.

I love this picture

Austin will probably kill me for putting this on here....

American Idol Concert

So this past Monday was the American Idol concert. I went with Wendy, my mother-in-law and it was a blast! We had floor seats and it was soo cool to actually be able to see their faces :) Austin makes fun of me because I get a kick out of seeing famous people. But the show was AWESOME! I was screaming my head off the whole time. There was one major technicality that night, though. For some reason I seem to have problems with cameras. Right before I was suppose to leave to go to the concert, I forgot that I hadn't charged my battery. So it was half way charged. Everything was going fine until I had taken like 2 pics of David Archuleta and then it DIED. I got lots of pics and recordings of everyone but both David's. It was horrible. But I got over it...like 2 days later! Oh well. But it was so much fun. Here are a few of the pics from that night.

Kylie's Birthday Party 07/12/08

We had Kylie's birthday party this past Saturday at our house. A lot of our friends and family were there to celebrate Kylie's special day. Thanks to all who came, we really appreciated it :) Getting ready for the party was quite stressful for me. We had been gone all day at the lake (our neighbors let us borrow their wave runners) and we didn't get back until 3:30. The party started at 6:00 and I still had to take a shower and frost the cake and cupcakes. Austin had to go to the store and pick up more icing and balloons, so I was left at the house frosting the ugliest cupcakes you have ever seen. Ok, so maybe they weren't that bad, but Martha Stewart made it look a lot easier to make! What you do is cut off the tops of the cupcake and then cut that in half and put them back on the cupcake, off setting it a little bit so they look like wings. Then you use a gumdrop for the head and then licorice for the antennas. Yeah, the licorice I bought did not work, so I had to use tooth pics instead. Anyway, I finished those and then frosted her ladybug cake. I thought it turned out pretty decent looking ;) Kylie did not have her afternoon nap that day so she was CRANKY! Every time I put her down or gave her to someone else she screamed her head off. She didn't calm down until we fed her her cake :) Austin made some killer hamburgers and it was just a fun night. It was nice to see everyone again! Kylie scored big time with the presents. Everyone was so generous and she ended up with a lot of clothes and toys. She LOVES her new toys and I love them too because she will sit and play with them instead of following me around like a puppy. I think Kylie's favorite present was the tissue paper. She laughed and laughed when playing with that stuff! Anyway, it was a great night and Kylie had a blast. Here are a few of the pics from the party. My brother Damian and his fiance did an awesome job at taking pictures. Thanks you two!

Kylie dancing

So on the 4th of July we taught Kylie how to "shake your shoulders." It was sooo incredibly cute :) She definetly didn't get her dancing skills from her mamma!

Splish Splash

So Kylie got her first experience in an outside pool this summer...in fact, so did I! Yesterday we went over to my friend Jessica's house who has a pool at her place. Kylie had such a fun time in her floaty and we ended up swimming for 3 hours! Jessica has a little boy name Nico who was as excited as we were to be in the cool water. He is such a cute kid. Kylie enjoyed playing with her little buddy :) Even though she had sunscreen on, I guess I should have bathed Kylie in it because she got a slight burn on her arms. Poor kid. Anyway, just looking at these pics make me want to put on my swimming suit and head back over to Jessica's :)
